Choosing the wrong weapon in Broken Blade means wasted materials and slower progress. This Broken Blade weapon tier list ranks every weapon style Katana, Sword, and Buster, based on farming efficiency, boss damage, and upgrade potential, so you invest in the right one from the start.
| Tier | Weapon | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| S | Katana (Moon Cut) | Farming, bosses, progression |
| A | Buster (Dragon Slayer) | High burst, endgame bossing |
| B | Sword (Excalibur) | AoE clearing, late-game only |
Moon Cut is the best weapon in Broken Blade right now, and it’s not particularly close. You get it in Nida Village by collecting 100 Moon Pieces from arena bosses like Niveron using Boss Keys from chests. That’s far more accessible than anything else at its power level.
Why Moon Cut dominates:
How to upgrade Moon Cut:
The Katana style also pairs perfectly with the Vanir race (+75% Damage, +25% Katana Damage) — the best race synergy for boss-focused builds.
Dragon Slayer is an absolute beast for raw damage, especially in long boss fights. It requires Sacrifice Pieces and Crimson Beherits — materials from high-level boss kills — making it a proper endgame grind.
Dragon Slayer strengths:
The catch: Several Buster skills force movement while attacking, which hurts AFK farming efficiency compared to Katana. The material grind is also significantly longer, especially before you have strong damage multipliers. Most players should build Moon Cut first, then transition to Dragon Slayer once established.
Swords have solid AoE clearing for group farming and are genuinely beginner-friendly. The Elf race (+75% Damage, +25% Sword Damage) makes Sword a great early-to-mid-game choice.
The problem is Excalibur — the top Sword — requires Sky Spire progression and significant late-game resources. By the time you can realistically obtain it, Moon Cut is already stronger and easier to maintain.
Use Sword if: You’re an early-game player wanting fast mob clearing while grinding toward better options.
Avoid Sword if: You want the most efficient progression path — Katana beats it at every comparable stage.
Broken Blade’s upgrade system matters as much as the weapon you pick:
The current meta (post-Eclipse update) favours crit damage stacking — Thunder element (+50% Crit Damage) paired with Aesir race (+100% Crit Damage) forms the strongest possible endgame build regardless of weapon type.
Moon Cut (Katana) is the best overall weapon. It’s easier to obtain than Dragon Slayer, performs well against bosses, and has a clear upgrade path through Diamond materials, Soul Forge, and Sky Spire.
Katana (Moon Cut) is better for most players due to easier farming and faster progression. Buster (Dragon Slayer) has higher peak damage but requires much longer material grinding before it outperforms Katana.
Farm 100 Moon Pieces by defeating Niveron in the Nida Village arena using Boss Keys from chests. Bring the pieces to the weapon unlock NPC to craft Moon Cut.
Aesir (Mythical) is the best overall race with +75% Damage and +100% Crit Damage. For weapon-specific bonuses: Elf for Sword, Vanir for Katana, and Nether for Buster — all provide +25% type-specific damage on top of +75% base.
Switch as soon as you can farm Moon Pieces in Nida Village. Katana outperforms Sword in boss efficiency from mid-game onward, and Moon Cut is significantly easier to obtain than Excalibur.
