I can barely contain my excitement right now! After what felt like an eternity waiting for Grand Blue Season 2 (seriously, seven whole years!), I never imagined we’d get Season 3 news this quickly. But here we are, just one day after Season 2 wrapped up, and I’m practically bouncing off the walls with this incredible announcement.
So here’s what happened I was sitting there, still processing the emotional rollercoaster that was the Season 2 finale, when BAM! The official Grand Blue website drops this bombshell. Season 3 is officially in production, and get this Iori and his friends will visit Palau Island for the first time in the series!
I mean, talk about perfect timing, right? The production team at Studio Liber and Zero G really know how to keep us hooked. They literally announced this during the finale episode, and I’m not ashamed to admit I might have screamed a little when I saw that teaser visual.
Look, I’ve been following Grand Blue since the manga days, and I know how brutal the wait between seasons can be. Fans literally waited seven years between Season 1 (2018) and Season 2 (2025), so getting Season 3 confirmation this fast feels almost too good to be true.
But here’s the thing that really gets me excited they’re taking the gang overseas for the first time! Season 3 will be set in Palau, marking the first time Iori and the gang head overseas. As someone who’s been following these characters through all their crazy campus shenanigans, seeing them in a completely new environment is going to be absolutely wild.
I have to give props to the creative team for choosing Palau. If you know anything about diving (and let’s be honest, that’s what Grand Blue is really about beneath all the comedy), Palau is like the holy grail of diving destinations. The island nation is well known for its rich coral reefs and biodiversity, which means we’re probably going to get some absolutely stunning underwater sequences.
Just imagine Iori trying to navigate diving in these pristine waters while probably still getting into his usual ridiculous situations. The comedy potential is through the roof, and knowing this series, they’ll find ways to make even paradise diving hilarious.
Now, I won’t lie we’re probably looking at another wait for Season 3. Season 3 is expected to be released sometime in late 2026, though some sources are suggesting it could be as early as July 2026. Either way, it’s nowhere near the seven year gap we just survived, so I’m calling that a win.
What really gives me hope is that the same studios are returning. Zero G did an incredible job with both previous seasons, and having Liber supporting them means the production quality should remain consistently excellent. Plus, Grand Blue remains one of the highest rated anime on Crunchyroll with over 11,000 user reviews averaging 4.9 out of 5 stars.
Based on what I know about the manga progression, Season 3 should adapt the Palau arc starting from volume 13. Without spoiling anything, I can tell you this arc is going to be something special. The series has always balanced its raunchy college humor with genuine moments of friendship and personal growth, and the Palau setting is going to amplify both aspects.
I’m particularly excited to see how the animation team handles the underwater scenes in Palau. If Season 2 taught us anything, it’s that they’ve really mastered the art of making diving sequences both beautiful and comedically timing perfect.

Grand Blue has always been that rare comedy anime that manages to be both completely ridiculous and genuinely heartwarming. Adding an exotic location like Palau to the mix is only going to enhance what makes this series special.
As someone who’s been on this Grand Blue journey from the beginning, I can’t express how thrilled I am about this announcement. The seven year wait between seasons was brutal, but it made Season 2 feel that much more special. Now, knowing that we won’t have to wait nearly as long for Season 3, and that we’re getting a completely new setting to boot?
