Mutations in Deep Fishing multiply both a fish’s sale value and its Pond earning rate, and the best mutation right now is Cosmic at 15x. I’ve ranked all nine mutations by value multiplier, how hard each is to get, and whether it’s worth a reroll. Cosmic and Lava own the S-Tier because their weather events turn almost any catch into a jackpot, while Gold and Wet are basically pocket change. Here’s the full breakdown, plus how to farm rerolls before the Trading update lands on November 25.
| Tier | Mutations | Multipliers |
|---|---|---|
| S | Cosmic, Lava | 15x, 12x |
| A | Diamond, Cursed, Electro, Toxic, Frozen | 8x, 6.5x, 5x, 4x, 3.5x |
| B | Wet, Gold | 2.5x, 2x |
My criteria are simple: value multiplier first, availability second. A 15x multiplier means nothing if you can’t catch it, so I weighed how each mutation is obtained β seven of them only appear during weather events that rotate every few minutes per server, while Gold and Diamond can spawn randomly on any fish at any time. I also factored in reroll odds from the Mutation Dealer’s menu, where rare mutations carry tiny roll chances. Low multipliers rank lower because they fill your inventory faster than your wallet.
Cosmic (15x) and Lava (12x) are the only mutations worth planning your sessions around. Both are locked to their tied weather events β Cosmic and Volcano β but while those events run, fish in the affected area can roll them constantly. My strategy: when either event starts, cast nonstop, keep one Cosmic fish in your Pond for passive income, and sell duplicates while the event runs. A single Cosmic catch out-earns a whole haul of Gold fish.
Diamond (8x), Cursed (6.5x), Electro (5x), Toxic (4x), and Frozen (3.5x) form the middle pack. Diamond is the standout because it spawns randomly like Gold but pays four times more β every random Diamond catch is an instant keeper. Cursed, Electro, Toxic, and Frozen only appear during their matching Cursed, Thunder, Toxic, and Blizzard events, so catch them while their weather rotates through. They make solid Pond earners, but I’d never burn an Ultra Reroll chasing anything below Diamond.
Wet (2.5x) and Gold (2x) sit at the bottom. Wet comes from the Rain event, which is common weather β that’s exactly why it pays so little β and Gold spawns randomly on any fish you hook. My rule: sell B-Tier catches immediately and save Pond slots for A and S-Tier fish. The one exception is early game, where even a 2x Gold fish doubles your income while you grind cash for better rods and Strength upgrades.
There are three ways to mutate a fish in Deep Fishing:
Cosmic. Its 15x multiplier is the highest in the game and boosts both the sale price and Pond earnings.
Nine as of the Halloween World update: Gold, Wet, Frozen, Toxic, Electro, Cursed, Diamond, Lava, and Cosmic.
No. Both spawn randomly on fish at any time β they’re never tied to weather.
It rerolls a fish’s mutation with better odds than a standard Mutation Reroll and costs 39 Robux.
