There are 8 outfits in Phantom Blade Zero as of November 2026, and every one is purely cosmetic β none of them change your defense, damage, or stats. Two come unlocked from the start, two drop after any ending, two are tied to the secret Perfect ending, and two live exclusively in the Deluxe Edition. I’ve finished the game twice and cross-checked every unlock, so here’s the complete list plus the fastest way to claim each look.
| Outfit | How to Unlock |
|---|---|
| Black Scarf (Fugitive) | Default β equipped from the start |
| Sanguine | Default β available from the start |
| The Hunt | Beat the game with any ending |
| Kindred | Beat the game with any ending |
| Blizzard | Meet every Perfect ending requirement except the Long Pillar challenges |
| Legacy | Secret Perfect ending or pre-order |
| Blood-Steel Form | Deluxe Edition only |
| Wulin Legend | Deluxe Edition only |
Open the map screen, head to the Character tab, and switch to Appearance. You can swap outfits anytime, even mid-mission, and the same menu lets you show or hide headgear on every outfit β handy if you want Legacy’s bareheaded calm without losing Sanguine’s crimson Ghoststep trail.
You don’t unlock these; you just wear them. Black Scarf (Fugitive) is the hooded look Soul starts with, and Sanguine is a lighter traveling set that leaves a dark-red streak behind every Ghoststep. I kept Sanguine on for most of my first run purely for that trail effect during boss dodges.
Both unlock the moment you finish the game with any ending β no special choices required. Wrap the story once and The Hunt and Kindred appear together in your Appearance menu, ready for a fresh playthrough.
This is where outfits get tricky. Blizzard unlocks if you meet every requirement for the secret Perfect ending but skip some Long Pillar challenges. Legacy β the plain, armorless grandmaster look β needs the full Perfect ending, or a pre-order. My condensed route to the Perfect ending:
Blood-Steel Form is a heavy war-plate set flushed deep crimson by Sha-Chi, and Wulin Legend is the classic wandering-swordsman robe. Both ship only with the $69.99 Digital Deluxe Edition (Standard is $59.99) alongside the digital artbook and soundtrack, and unlike Legacy, there is no in-game way to unlock them. If those two looks are the whole reason you’re buying, the $10 upgrade is the only path.
Eight: Black Scarf (Fugitive), Sanguine, The Hunt, Kindred, Blizzard, Legacy, Blood-Steel Form, and Wulin Legend.
No. Every outfit is cosmetic only, so you can swap freely without touching defense or damage.
Yes. Complete the secret Perfect ending β every requirement including all five Long Pillar challenges β and Legacy unlocks on any edition.
You can’t in-game. Blood-Steel Form and Wulin Legend come only with the Digital Deluxe Edition.
