The Boulder in Fisch is a Divine Secret “fish” that is literally a rock β and it is the key to unlocking one of the rarest rods in the game. To catch it, fish at Keeper’s Altar, hidden inside the Statue of Sovereignty mines. The odds are a fixed 1 in 1,000,000, and no bait, weather, season, or time of day changes that. I’ve broken down the fastest route, the rods that actually help, and the admin events that briefly make the grind bearable in 2026.
| Boulder Quick Facts | Details |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Divine Secret |
| Location | Keeper’s Altar (Statue of Sovereignty) |
| Catch chance | Fixed 1 in 1,000,000 (0.0001%) |
| Bait / Weather / Season / Time | No requirements |
| Luck boosts (Server, Merlin, Aurora) | Don’t work |
| Why you need it | Quest 1 of Dave’s Dev Rod |
Boulder is a Divine Secret fish in the Keeper’s Altar Bestiary β basically a giant 900kg rock that counts as a catch. It can’t be bought or crafted, and it’s the only way to start the Dave Rod questline, which is why demand for it exploded. Don’t be surprised when it lands in your inventory looking like an ordinary gray rock β there’s no flashy animation to announce it. If you’re grinding bestiaries anyway (like our Fisch FischFright 3 Bestiary), this rock sits at the very top of the pain scale.
The Boulder only spawns naturally in one spot: the water at Keeper’s Altar. Here’s my exact route:
You only need the base version, so don’t stress about mutations (though if you want mutated fish for value, here’s how to get the Electric mutation fast).
Can’t find the altar? Quick fixes I’ve relied on: take the Mines entrance to the left of the lift (not the lift itself), then follow the mine tunnel down to the altar room. The spot is underground, so your GPS coords stop mattering the moment you’re inside.
This is where most players waste hours. Boulder’s 1-in-1,000,000 chance is fixed β Server Luck, Merlin’s luck, Aurora Totems, and luck enchantments do nothing to it. The only stat that matters is how many casts you push per hour, because every cast is a fresh roll of the dice.
The one exception players report: the Crew Rod’s Mastery perk, which allegedly drops the odds to roughly 1 in 333,000.
And when it finally bites, don’t celebrate yet β the catch bar runs at -99% progress speed, which means the bar fills at a crawl while the fish fights like a boss. Keep the line centered, let the resilience stat do the work, and whatever you do, don’t mash the reel button. Losing a 1-in-a-million hook to impatience is the worst feeling in Fisch.
Since luck is dead weight here, I prioritize Lure Speed and catch speed:
During certain Admin Events, Boulder can be hooked from any body of water at massively boosted odds:
| Admin Event | Boulder Chance |
|---|---|
| Divine Dream | 0.001% (1 in 100,000) |
| Gurt Dream | 0.002% (1 in 500,000) |
| Rocks | 0.001% (1 in 100,000) |
| Super Rockfall | 0.1% (1 in 1,000) β retired, no longer returns |
Admin Events are developer-run sessions (the community calls them “admin abuse”) that pop up without warning in short windows, so the official Fisch Discord and in-game announcements are your best radar. When Divine Dream or Gurt Dream drops, stop whatever you’re grinding and fish, because those windows are worth days of normal casting. Gurt Dream is the newest addition and reportedly stacks a 20x luck bonus for Divine Secrets on top of its Boulder odds. Super Rockfall had the best odds we’ve ever seen, but it’s officially retired and won’t return, so treat that row as history, not strategy.
Take your Boulder to Dave, the rock-textured NPC standing on top of the Arch (GPS: X 1100, Y 133, Z -1200 β climb from the right side or use a Velocity/Gravity coil). He asks for three things:
You’ll get Dave’s Dev Rod: +21% Lure Speed, +21% Luck, 0.7 Control, -21% Resilience, 21kg cap, -51% Progress Speed. Stats are rough, but its Control is nearly full and it’s a trophy few players own. Secret NPC rods are a running theme β see our Xorcist Rod (Ken Carson quest) guide for another one.
No. The only natural spawn is Keeper’s Altar inside the Statue of Sovereignty mines. The exception: during Divine Dream, Gurt Dream, and Rocks admin events, Boulder can be caught in any body of water.
No. Its 1-in-1,000,000 chance is fixed and ignores Server Luck, Merlin, Aurora Totems, and luck enchantments. Only the Crew Rod’s Mastery perk is rumored to improve it.
1 in 1,000,000 per catch at Keeper’s Altar. During admin events: 1 in 100,000 in Divine Dream or Rocks, and 1 in 500,000 in Gurt Dream.
Give it to Dave on top of the Arch to start his questline. After 250 Rocks and one final Rock, he rewards you with Dave’s Dev Rod.
There’s no pity system β at 1 in 1M, most players AFK-fish with a fast rod for days. Admin events are your best shortcut, so jump on every Divine Dream or Gurt Dream you see.
