Duel of Destiny Season 1 (Amusement & Allure) went live on October 21 and runs until November 3, 23:59 GMT+9, locking the new Lychee Dragon Cookie into every player’s deck against the corrupted Moonlight Cookie. Since toppings, beascuits, and kingdom buffs don’t apply here, the cookies you recruit and the Hero’s Wills you pick decide everything. I’ve gone through the official patch notes and Top 1% player guides to bring you the picks that actually matter.
| Duel of Destiny Season 1 | Key Facts |
|---|---|
| Season 1 dates | Oct 21, 06:30 β Nov 3, 23:59 (GMT+9); Season 2: Nov 4 β Nov 17 |
| Locked Season Cookie | Lychee Dragon Cookie (Ambush, Charm + DMG amplification) |
| Ranking metric | Total points + clear time; rewards paid by tier |
| Tactical Skill | Dance and Wisdom of the Rambutan Tribe (3 purple flames) |
Every run starts on equal footing: all Season allies come pre-set at the same level and promotion, with Lv.30 Magic Candy and Lv.20 Crystal Jam effects applied. You begin with two random ally candidates β one Defense/Charge Cookie and one Ranged/Magic Cookie β and can Shuffle or Remove candidates (low rarities cost New Choice Tickets). After that, every wave you clear gives one choice: recruit an ally Cookie or grab a Hero’s Will. Hero’s Wills carry orange, green, blue, or purple flames; matching combos trigger bonus effects, and every purple Flame of Awakening lights the Awakening Candelabrum. Light all three candles and you unlock the Tactical Skill for the boss fight. Separately, Gems of Will fund Unleash Power upgrades to ATK, Cooldown, and Lychee Dragon’s Grade.
Rarity is a trap in this mode because everyone’s cookies fight at fixed strength β kits matter more than stars. Your locked Lychee Dragon Cookie is the carry: she charms enemies, amplifies damage they take, and life-steals to stay alive, so recruit allies that stack debuff amplification and team damage on top of her. These are the picks I grab whenever they appear in the ally list:
| Tier | Cookies | Why They Win Runs |
|---|---|---|
| S | Fire Spirit, Timekeeper, Burning Spice, Sugar Swan | Explosive fire AoE, top Legendary DPS that ignores DMG resist, ATK buffs + immortality, and run-saving revives |
| A | Rebel, Litmus, Mozzarella, Pompom Dough, Pavlova, Dark Choco, Elder Faerie, Povidone-Iodine | DEF shred, team damage boosts, insane debuff amplification, Charm + CRIT support, taunt-tanking, and debuff pressure |
| B | Eternal Sugar, Rambutan, situational Super Epics | Eternal Sugar’s Beast passives still help despite weak damage; Rambutan supercharges the Tactical Skill |
| Skip | Single-target nukers like CrΓ¨me BrΓ»lΓ©e, most Rares/Commons (e.g., Avocado) | Dead weight β waves need AoE clears, not boss-only damage |
A few notes on the standouts. Pompom Dough needs a second debuffer next to her to shine, but that pairing multiplies your whole team’s damage through Lychee Dragon’s amplification. Timekeeper is the best Legendary damage dealer you can recruit, with cooldown-freezing and a pocket revive. Sugar Swan is quietly near-mandatory for comfortable Top 1% clears, because her revives and shields stop late waves from wiping your run. If another Dragon Cookie joins Lychee Dragon, your entire team gains immunity to Cooldown Freeze and Cooldown Recovery debuffs β a hidden perk most guides miss. If Rambutan Cookie shows up, take her: she lets you fire the Tactical Skill more often with an enhanced damage buff.
Top leaderboard players treat the first two turns as the draft phase β recruit allies there, then take Hero’s Wills only from that point on. Before you commit to a serious run, stockpile at least 200 refresh tickets; you can farm 12 extra duel tickets per day just by watching ads, so 200 is very reachable. Use that stash to reroll ally candidates until the S-tier names above appear, and spend New Choice Tickets to remove obvious dead weight from your pool rather than dragging Avocado-tier picks through a leaderboard run. If your first two recruits are both duds, don’t sink tickets into saving a doomed run β restart and redraft.
Once your team is locked, every pick should be damage. Refresh until you see these buffs, in rough priority order:
| Priority | Hero’s Will Buff | Take It When |
|---|---|---|
| Core | Bomber & Magic: ATK +20%, Cooldown β10% | Always β fits most carries |
| Core | Enemies take +30% All-Type DMG | Always β stacks with everything |
| Core | Charge & Defense: ATK +20%, Cooldown β10% | You drafted Burning Spice |
| Core | High-rarity CRIT buff | Always β level it up later |
| High | Cooldown β2s after defeating an enemy | Wave-clearing comps |
| High | DMG to Bosses +25% | Boss and timer pushes |
| High | Charge & Magic: Cooldown β0.5s per basic attack | Basic-attack-heavy teams |
| Early | ATK, DEF, HP +7% | Early waves to snowball |
When your buff slots cap out, keep refreshing and fully evolve your two or three core buffs β evolved versions gain huge extra effects. On flames, three purple lights the Candelabrum for the Tactical Skill; otherwise aim for three of a kind or one of each color. Triple orange is the one color combo worth chasing, and only if you’re running Fire Spirit with Burning Spice for maximum Fire damage. One trap to avoid: the “DMG +1% every second (resets each wave)” buff is bait β fast runs finish waves in seconds, so it does almost nothing.
Spend Gems of Will on every Unleash Power as you earn them, prioritizing ATK and Cooldown boosts, then Lychee Dragon’s Grade. The three mistakes that kill most runs: recruiting allies after the opening turns instead of stacking buffs, burning refresh tickets on mediocre buffs because you got impatient, and ignoring the flame overflow rule β if your flame slots fill before a combo completes, your earliest flame vanishes, so plan the order you pick them in.
Fire Spirit, Timekeeper, Burning Spice, and Sugar Swan lead the list, with Rebel, Litmus, Mozzarella, Pompom Dough, and Pavlova as top ally picks. Build around your locked Lychee Dragon Cookie’s damage amplification.
Have 200+ refresh tickets banked before a leaderboard attempt. You earn 12 extra duel tickets daily from ads, so bank them for a few days and reroll aggressively until S-tier cookies and core buffs appear.
Purple flames are wild cards. Each one lights a candle on the Awakening Candelabrum, and lighting all three unlocks the Tactical Skill “Dance and Wisdom of the Rambutan Tribe,” which buffs your team’s damage against the boss β more often if Rambutan Cookie is on your team.
Not really. All allies fight at identical fixed levels with no toppings or beascuits, so kit synergy beats rarity. Most Super Epics are skippable, and dead-weight Rares and Commons are better removed than recruited.
Season 1 runs October 21 through November 3 (GMT+9), followed by tallying, then Season 2 from November 4 to November 17 with a refreshed ally lineup. Shop coins carry through Season 2, so spend them before the mode rotates. If you’re low on crystals for future pulls, grab freebies from our Cookie Run Kingdom codes first.
