Pets in Grow a Garden 2 are way more than cute companions, they’re passive powerhouses that can speed up crop growth, protect your fruits at night, auto-harvest ripe produce, and even steal from other players while you sleep. Here’s a quick overview before we dive in:
| Pet | Rarity | Key Ability | Cost (Sheckles) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frog | Common | +5 Jump Height | 10,000 |
| Bunny | Common | +5 Walk Speed | 20,000 |
| Owl | Uncommon | Night vision +12.5%, rare pet alerts | 25,000 |
| Deer | Rare | +10% Plant Growth Speed | 50,000 |
| Robin | Legendary | Eats ripe fruits, drops seeds | 75,000 |
| Bee | Legendary | Swarms garden thieves | 1,000,000 |
| Monkey | Mythic | Auto-harvests ripe fruit | 1,000,000 |
| Golden Dragonfly | Mythic | 2x Gold mutation chance | 3,000,000 |
| Unicorn | Mythic | 2x Rainbow mutation chance | 4,000,000 |
| Raccoon | Super | Steals from unattended gardens at night; +25 steal limit | 5,000,000 |
| Ice Serpent | Super | Freezes intruders in your garden | 20,000,000 |
| Black Dragon | Super | Breathes fire on thieves | TBA |
Frog — The cheapest pet in the game at 10,000 Sheckles. Gives a +5 jump height boost, which helps you navigate the map faster. Low value long-term, but easy to grab early.
Bunny — At 20,000 Sheckles, the Bunny grants +5 walk speed. Sounds minor, but that extra movement speed becomes critical when you’re running stolen fruit back to your garden before someone catches you.
Owl — Costs 25,000 Sheckles and doubles as a night-time scouting tool. It extends your view distance by 12.5% after dark and hoots loudly whenever a rare pet spawns on the map. A solid utility pick.
Deer — At 50,000 Sheckles, the Deer is the best early-game farming pet. It makes all plants in your garden grow 10% faster — a compounding boost that adds up to a lot of extra sheckles over multiple sessions.
Robin — Costs 75,000 Sheckles. Flies around your plot eating ripe fruits and occasionally drops bonus seeds. Useful for passive farming, but the Robin consumes your crops so don’t rely on it if you’re manually harvesting.
Bee — The defensive king at 1,000,000 Sheckles. The Bee actively patrols your garden and swarms any player who tries to steal your fruit. If you’re farming valuable mutations on a public server, this pet is essential.
Monkey — Also 1,000,000 Sheckles. Swings around your plot and auto-collects fully ripe fruits, delivering them directly to you. A great AFK farming companion.
Golden Dragonfly — Costs 3,000,000 Sheckles and doubles your chances of getting a Gold mutation on any plant or fruit. This is a major sheckle multiplier if you’re chasing high-value harvests.
Unicorn — At 4,000,000 Sheckles, the Unicorn doubles your Rainbow mutation chance. Rainbow mutations carry some of the highest multipliers in the game, making this pet an end-game priority.
Raccoon — 5,000,000 Sheckles. The most unique offensive pet — it sneaks out at night to steal fruits from unguarded gardens automatically, and raises your steal limit by +25. Pure value for aggressive players.
Ice Serpent — At 20,000,000 Sheckles, this defensive beast freezes any intruder solid the moment they enter your garden. The most powerful garden protection pet currently in the game.
Black Dragon — A Super-tier pet that breathes fire on garden thieves. Exact cost is still unconfirmed at time of writing, but it functions similarly to the Ice Serpent as an active deterrent.

Unlike the original Grow a Garden, there are no eggs to hatch in GaG2. Pets spawn naturally around the lobby at random intervals with a visible countdown timer above them. Walk up and buy them with Sheckles before the timer runs out — or before another player outbids you. Once purchased, escort the pet to your garden plot to lock it in.
Pet slot costs:
| Priority | Pet | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | Deer | 10% faster growth = more money per session |
| 2nd | Bee | Best public server defense pet |
| 3rd | Bunny | Speed boost helps with stealing and escaping |
| Endgame | Unicorn / Golden Dragonfly | Mutation multipliers = highest sheckle ceiling |
There are currently 12 confirmed pets across six rarity tiers: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Legendary, Mythic, and Super.
For offense, the Raccoon auto-steals for you. For defense, the Ice Serpent freezes thieves. For farming, the Deer (growth) and Unicorn/Golden Dragonfly (mutations) are top picks.
